Maltepe is located in the southwestern part of the Kocaeli Peninsula, on the Marmara Sea coast of Istanbul. Maltepe has approximately 7 km of coastline to the Marmara Sea. The district has the highest peak at 440m. The seaside is covered with sand, clay and silica from the coast.

Maltepe University (Turkish: Maltepe Üniversitesi) is a private university located in Maltepe district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was established on July 9, 1997 by "Istanbul Marmara Education Foundation" (İMEV). The institution has a broad scope of education starting from the elementary level to university.

Maltepe is on the Asian side, between Kadıköy and Pendik districts. Maritime district consists of 18 neighborhood and population is around 450,000. Seaside of district is very nice area for entertainment, relaxing and living. Along the seaside, there’s walking, cycle paths and around paths is planted well.
