A makhtesh (Hebrew: מַכְתֵּשׁ (), Hebrew plural: מַכְתְּשִׁים ‎ ([ˌmaχteˈʃim] – Makhteshim) is a geological landform found in the Negev desert of Israel and the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt.
