Maacah (or Maakah; Hebrew: מַעֲכָה ‎ Maʿăḵā, "crushed"; Maacha in the Codex Alexandrinus, Maachah in the KJV) is a non-gender-specific personal name used in the Bible to refer to a number of people.

Maacah is an eshet yefat to’ar, a non-Jewish woman captured during wartime for the purpose of becoming a wife to her Israelite captor. Deuteronomy lists specific conditions the woman must follow to wed an Israelite, such as shaving her head, that are intended to discourage the union by making the woman seem undesirable.

Maacah began life as the daughter of King Talmai (Tholmai) in the neighboring kingdom of Geshur. Her father must have been astute: when David became king of Israel, Talmai quickly switched his allegiance from Saul and gave Maacah to David, who was now a suitable match for his daughter. Two things were expected of the young princess:

Maacah is then the granddaughter of Absalom, the daughter of Uriel and Tamar, the mother of Abijah, and the grandmother of Asa. Some of the original confusion results from the fact that the Bible often used the term "children" for "grandchildren" and even descendants who are generations removed (cf.
