Mount Vaea is a 472 metre (1549') [1] summit overlooking Apia, the capital of Samoa located on the north central coast of Upolu island. The mountain is situated south about 3 km (2 miles) inland from Apia township and harbour. The settlement at the foothills on the northern side of the mountain is called Lalovaea (below Vaea in Samoan).

Mt Vaea sits above the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum in the Vailima National Reserve. The climb to the top is worth it for panoramic views across Apia, the surrounding mountains and valleys, and the Pacific.

2023年7月10日 · This is my first hike on an 8-day trip around Samoa: the trail to the summit of Mt Vaea and the tomb of famous Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson (and his wife Fanny) is probably the most popular one on the island.

2015年8月26日 · Malololelei is a small, affluent village, a little up the hills from my place. From there you can look out over Apia, and further east and west along the North Coast of Upolu. There’s a patch of land there- some 600 acres- which runs from the mid Upolu mountains down to meet the Mt Vaea reserve.

Mt Vaea is a picturesque mountain reserve that holds the tomb and former residence of the renowned writer Robert Louis Stevenson. A brief hike from the mansion leads to Stevenson's burial site, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Apia and the surrounding ocean.
