Union Pacific Railroad GP50 66 at Cotter, Arkansas on June 8, 1989, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 66 was built in January 1981 as MP GP50 3516 (c/n 807023-7), delivered in Jenks Blue paint, repainted to MP/UP yellow on November 9, 1984, at which time it received the North Little Rock style Missouri Pacific lettering.

During mid-1992 Union Pacific initiated a contract with EMD to add dynamic braking to ten ex-MP GP50s, UP road numbers 960-969, with plans to have dynamic braking added to the remaining 20 units as funding becomes available.

https://utahrails.net/up-diesel-roster/up-x-mp-gp50.php has UP 969 as having been built 12/80 as MP 3509, renumbered to UP 969 on 2/26/90, dynamic brakes added 8/23/93, and rebuilt to UPY MP20GP 2106 with a 2000 hp Caterpillar engine in July 2006.

Y2106 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1980, #797322-1, as MP 3500, GP50. It became UP 50 on October 18, 1988, and was renumbered 960 on October 24, 1991. It was renumbered 5558 on March 12, 1997, and renumbered 1658 on April 25, 2007.

MP GP50 3520 in photo #6 was built in January 1981 and repainted into yellow and grey on September 21, 1984. It wore several numbers after being fully integrated into UP's roster as a UP unit: renumbered to UP 71 on April 15, 1988
