The Great Seal of the State of Minnesota is the state seal of the U.S. state of Minnesota. It was adopted on May 11, 2024, alongside the state flag, for Statehood Day.

Sep 20, 2023 · Starting in 1983, critics again called for reconsideration of Minnesota’s state seal and the flag that bore its image. In 2022, state senator and Lakota descendant Mary Kunesh and others asked for a new design that better represented the resilience and contributions of Native Americans in Minnesota.

In 1849, Henry Sibley proposed a sketch drawn by Seth Eastman as the basis for Minnesota's Territorial Seal. It pictured a barefoot farmer working in a field near the falls of St Anthony on the Mississippi and an Indian riding into what was described as the setting sun (although it was on the right side of the sketch).
