2008年11月4日 · My 1996 MGF VVC 1.8 has erratic idling problems, and it's not throttle body or coolant sensors. It can be idling quite happily, and then mysteriously raises to 2100rpm for a while. Also, the cooling fans come on almost straight away after starting the engine. I suspect it's the ECU getting muddled up, and even a dealer confirmed this.

Also, there is a VVC hydraulic control unit on the inlet side of the head (right side of the car) about 4-5" high.
