2013年9月14日 · The M8A1 was introduced in 1944 and replaced the M8. The difference was that the M8A1 had the hanger extended slightly and the double hook attachment added so the scabbard could be used on the standard cartridge and pistol belts. The continued to be marked M8 for some time after adoption, so you have to go by the hanger.

They were advertised as issued fair-to-good condition, but were all like new unissued. I also got lots of M8A1 scabbards when they ran internet specials on M7 bayonets with scabbards.

2018年10月22日 · B.M. CO. marked M8A1 were only produced during WW2, also true for the M8 marked sheaths. In the spring of 1944 the scabbards were transitioning from M8 to M8A1, though some that met the new M8A1 profile still had the U.S. M8 marked throat. Might be hard to say for sure when they ran through the last of the M8 metal plates.

2014年7月28日 · The Large PWH scabbards (not in my picture) were another story. All but one of the large PWH scabbards observed, did not have the cover. I guess it would be safe to say MOST, but not all of the large PWH scabbards lack this fringe cover. Conclusion: IF your M8A1 scabbard does not have a fringe cover, it is likely post 1969.

2011年1月22日 · I've got 3xM3, repacks, (2xUtica, 1xCamillus-all guard marked), that came with metal tipped, mint, "PWH" M8A1 scabbards. As I recall, Gary said these were repacked around 1962 -63 time frame. I imagine the M4's could have been done then also. Could be wrong. SKIP

2012年1月8日 · They may have provided bayonets later than 1967, but that is the only data available at this time. There were over a million M7s by BOC and delivered in 1969. There are a few Colt bayonets that preceded Milpar's contracts, but they are very expensive. As for scabbards, any PWH marked M8A1 would be correct. They have been made for decades.
