The first BMW M5 was produced during the E28 generation. It was powered by the M88/3 and S38 straight-six engines. The E24 6 Series coupés were built on the E28 platform from 1982 to 1989. The E28 was replaced by the E34 5 Series in 1988.

2007年12月13日 · The e28 is a great driving car particularly an M but takes a BMW lover to appreciate the style. Value wise it is clear the 6ers carry a premium. Low mileage M6 examples will command $25k up where a similar M5 (US spec) would be lucky to hit $15k.

Will an M5 or M6 engine plug and play into a 5 speed E28? I have a line on an M6 engine of the same vintage, so wonder if it will bolt into an E28 of 533i or 535i cars with manual transmissions. Anybody here know?
