The 155 mm howitzer motor carriage M41 (also known as the M41 Gorilla) was an American self-propelled artillery vehicle built on a lengthened M24 Chaffee tank chassis that was introduced at the end of the Second World War.

The 155 mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M41 ("M41 Gorilla") was a self-propelled artillery vehicle using the more modern M24 Chaffee tank chassis. But of 250, only 85 were produced before cancellation in late 1945.

The M41 was built along the same lines of the M19 GMC and M37 HMC, and utilised the light M24 tank chassis. The idea was to use the same chassis on three different vehicles thus creating a light combat team with combined weapons. The M41 mounted the 155mm M1 Howitzer in an open compartment.

2024年12月19日 · The self-propelled howitzer M41 was based on a lengthened M24 Chaffee chassis, and had many of the same modifications as the hull of the M19 self-propelled twin 40mm anti-aircraft gun. The M41's engine was moved to behind the drivers' compartment, and the 155mm howitzer mount was placed at the rear of the vehicle.
