M39 (Finn Mosin Nagant), again, more $$$ than M91/30. Most find they shoot better (more accurate due to much better barrel; heavier so less recoil). Mosin Carbines: Popular due to smaller size and slightly harder to find. Top is M38, harder to find and no bayonet.
7.62x54R Load Data - CMP Forums
I’m finally ready to work up some 7.62x54R loads for my Finnish M39 (barrel slugs at .312). The following load has been recommended to me: 174gr SMK .311 #2315 over IMR4350 - 52gr starting up to 55gr max. I haven’t been able to verify this exact combination in any of the reloading manuals that I have access to.

Speer 168 HPBT - CMP Forums
2024年1月9日 · I bought 500 of them from Midway at $0.31 each. I have reloaded them but not shot them yet. I am pretty much a cheapskate when it comes to shooting for fun and watch Ammseek for bargains on bullets. The 168gn HPBT of any brand seem to shoot best for me at 300yds and less. This goes for my Mossberg Patriot bolt gun, M14, and FAL.
remington made mosin nagant - CMP Forums
2012年8月7日 · They made them, and a lot of them made it to Russia. That was a contract Remington had with Russia before we got involved in WW1. They are worth more. Some are in pristine condition too and are probably some of the best Mosin Nagants made, except for maybe the Finnish M39. Google for more info.
Frosted bore - Effects on accuracy? - CMP Forums
My most accurate Finn M39 has a frosted barrel from muzzle to chamber. Our shoots my "minty" examples all day long. Some barrels just shoot great, despite looking like turds! Some barrels look great, but perform "ehh." As a general rule, a loose muzzle and throat will have larger negative effect on accuracy than frost or minor pitting. Shoot it.
Best choice for Vintage Military Match? - CMP Forums
2011年8月14日 · I agree that any of the Swiss rifles, 1911, K11, or K31 is a good choice. The K31 sight should be pretty close to right, and if you need a tall sight blade to zero a K11 or 1911 at 200 yds., there is a guy on the Swiss rifle forum that sells them.
anybody used Tom's Pine tar mix - CMP Forums
2014年2月18日 · Yes, Tom's pine tar mix was made to strictly emulate the coatings used on the Finnish rifles with the black streaking (M39's, etc.). I don't think it will give you a "likeable" or definitely not a correct finish for a Garand IMO.
