Accurizing an M1A: Where do you start? - M14 Forum
Sep 1, 2010 · The single best thing I did to improve accuracy was get some match grade ammo. My SA NM M1A Loves Federal GM Match 168gr. I shot 20 rounds yesterday and averaged an honest .75 MOA at 100yds . Worst group was barely over an inch and best was half an inch. Same gun shoots 1.25 - 1.75 MOA with cheap ammo.

Sep 14, 2015 · Just me, but I tend to consider an M1A or similar rifle as a long term firearm not one that is sold/traded as you would a hunting rifle/shotgun. The longer you keep the M1A/M14 and use it the more you come to appreciate just what you have. Just a suggestion.

May 29, 2011 · From all the input and ideas, it seems like it would be possible to make a composite-stocked shorter bbl'd (18.5:" or so?) M1A-LW (Lightweight) of about 6.8 - 7 lbs, fitted with a minor magnification (1.5 - 2X) small CBQ red dot sight, 5 rd polymer mag, nylon sling, folding stock and no other excessive add-on stuff. Sounds like a project!
