2022年5月19日 · Grain size can vary greatly with lots of shells. The main benefit I was looking for was biodiversity of bacteria and microfauna. After a few weeks the 60lbs of live sand I added to the 400lbs of dry sand showed some signs of life starting to spread throughout the tank. I did not wash or stir up the live sand heavily.

2020年10月20日 · Tampa Bay Saltwater & Gulf Live Rock are excellent sources of both live sand & live rock. I have used both for years. Both companies are exceptional environmental stewards. Where there was nothing but flat sand bottom, 10 million pounds of dry limestone was mined, freighted to barges and transferred to ocean floor.

A week and a half later the water is still cloudy if my powerheads are running and slightly less cloudy if theyre off. In frustration, ive drained all but a few inches of water out of the tank with a plan to add rodi water and in a sense rinse the sand in the tank.

2018年7月24日 · Same general answer applies for "live" rock, sand, plants, microbes, plankton, etc. What we don know, is that there are advocates for washing that sand to remove fines (dust that can cloud the tank and clough the pores in live rock and other filters) who insist that rigorous fresh water rinsing of live sand will not harm it.
