2023年12月8日 · Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant is the City's oldest and largest wastewater treatment facility. The plant has been operating since 1894 with multiple expansions and improvements over the last 100+ years.

Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant combines advanced wastewater treatment technology with the beauty and tranquility of its landscaped garden. The Japanese Garden is irrigated with recycled water from the plant and is open to the public year round.

The Board of Public Works has approved the design-build contract for the Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF) at Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant (DCTWRP) in December 2022. This AWPF is a joint effort between LASAN and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).

Pure Water Los Angeles is a new water supply initiative being developed that aims to increase overall water supply resiliency and reliability for Los Angeles. Through the program, LASAN will upgrade the existing secondary treatment process at the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant to include membrane bioreactor technology.

LASAN, responsible for the City’s wastewater collection and treatment systems, operates four water reclamation plants (WRPs) and 6,700 miles of sewers.

To help create a new, sustainable water supply for Los Angeles and maximize water reuse at HWRP, the Walsh/Brown and Caldwell (BC) design-build team is working with LASAN to construct a 1.5 mgd Hyperion AWPF.

LASAN’s Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant (Hyperion) currently has a design capacity of 450 million gallons per day (MGD) and recycles 27% of the treated wastewater for in-plant, irrigation, industrial, and other non-potable uses.

As part of an ongoing regional effort to expand water reclamation at Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant (HWRP), Los Angeles Sanitation (LASAN), Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and West Basin Municipal Water District (WBMWD) have entered into an agreement to collaboratively conduct a demonstration project.

Los Angeles City Sanitation (LASAN) operates the largest wastewater collection system in the US, serving a population of four million within a 600 square miles (1,600 km 2) service area. The city's more than 6,700 miles (10,800 km) of public sewers convey 400 million gallons per day of flow from customers to its four plants.
