2007年8月31日 · I remember a story about the LAJ in MR a few years ago with a paint shop article about detailing a Rail Power CF-7 shell into a LAJ model, i can not remember what issue it was, but it has to be around 1996 or so.

I discovered today that the LAJ CF7 had been set out and was still at Flynn. I thought these two pics with the trees in the way were the best I was going to get but as luck would have it the yard crew pulled it out and set it out on a track out in the open providing me with the opportunity to photograph this locomotive up close.

Controlled by Santa Fe and now BNSF, the terminal and switching line has a spaghetti bowl of track in Vernon. Its fleet of four CF7s were rebuilt by Santa Fe from F7 (A)s, this one in May of 1972. It began life as F3 (A) 201C in November 1948, and was rebuilt into an F7 (A) before becoming a CF7.

The Los Angeles Junction Railway "LAJ" south of Downtown Los Angeles has been retiring their small collection of ex Santa Fe CF7s. Last year they shipped three of them off to Barstow, CA mixed in to M-LACBAR manifest trains for storage and eventual sale or scrap.
