
GNSR Classes X and Y - Wikipedia
After the grouping both the Class X and Class Y became LNER Class Z5. This was changed in 1927 when the Class X was redesignated LNER Class Z4. [2]

The Z4 (GNSR X) Manning Wardle 0-4-2T Shunters From its formation, the GNSR wanted to use locomotives to work traffic at Aberdeen Docks, but the Harbour Commissioners would only allow horse haulage. In 1915, an agreement was made and the GNSR purchased two locomotives (class Z5) from Manning, Wardle & Co to work the docks.

Heywood's only design for the GNoSR was a small group of 4-4-0s virtually identical to Pickersgill's V Class engines - and the LNER used the same classification for them. The first six were constructed by NBL and numbered 47-50, 52 and 54. Two more were built at Inverurie and numbered 45 and 46.
