We investigated the association of LDH with markers of hemolysis, organ dysfunction, and endothelial activation in a population of 213 patients with all forms of sickle cell disease, using blood samples obtained while in steady state. LDH was highly correlated with multiple markers of hemolytic severity (Table 2).

Several hemolytic markers are available to guide the differential diagnosis and to monitor treatment of hemolytic conditions. They include increased reticulocytes, an indicator of marrow compensatory response, elevated lactate dehydrogenase, a marker of intravascular hemolysis, reduced haptoglobin, and unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia.

2023年12月3日 · We observed an increase of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) (p = 0.01) and hemolysis index (HI) (p = 0.0043) during VOC compared to steady state. Regarding patients with VOC requiring hospitalization, LDH (p = 0.0073) and HI (p = 0.04) were increased.
