Kyburg Castle (German: Schloss Kyburg) is a castle in Switzerland, overlooking the Töss river about 3 km south-east of Winterthur, in Kyburg municipality, canton of Zürich.

Located some 3 Km south-east of Winterthur, Kyburg is one of the best know castles in the region and is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. The castle grounds are well managed and you can walk around the outside of the castle walls without paying any entrance fees.

Kyburg Castle is the best-preserved feudal keep in north-eastern Switzerland. It served as a powerful symbol of its owners’ might: the Counts of Kyburg, the Habsburg Kings and Dukes as well as the city of Zurich.

In 1865 the independent gentleman Matthäus Pfau acquired Kyburg Castle and opened it to the public as a castle and art museum – the first castle museum in Switzerland. Eduard Bodmer continued this activity until 1914. In 1917 the Canton of Zurich bought Kyburg Castle and created an exhibition that remained until 1999.
