Kuntao in the Philippines does not have a belt ranking system. You will notice that there is a belt ranking system in Kuntao at the Practical Self Defense Training Center (PSDTC). This method of ranking was added in by the late Grand Master Joe Rossi back around 1957 in his personal Rossi Kun Tao System , his personal system of Kuntao.

Kuntao is a southeast Asian martial arts that utilizes hand strikes, kicking techniques, grappling and martial arts weapons (i.e. sword, staff and spear). Kuntao means the “way of the fist”. This martial arts was originally developed hundreds of years ago in southern China and spread to countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines.

The Filipino Kun Tao curriculum offers a modern belt ranking system up through black belt. A unique aspect of Filipino Kun Tao is that all students start with a "rope" belt; as everything is earned and nothing is given.
