I have kept several of the fry to raise and the results were always disappointing. The last unplanned spawning was different. What was different was the spawning was basically between two Koi.

Nitrite (NO2-) levels, when measured by advanced tests, also run in the 0.05 ppm to 0.1 ppm ranges in very well designed and maintained koi ponds. This also does not hurt the koi, but if nitrite is measurable with a normal test kit, it is probably too high for long term koi keeping.

Koi are cold blooded and their systems are most efficient in the temperature range of 74 degrees. It can be a little more or less but feeding medicated food in water that is 50 - 60 degrees just won't yield the same results.
