Khoa Do (Vietnamese: Đỗ Khoa, pronounced [ɗǒwˀ kʰʷāː] ⓘ), is a Vietnamese-born Australian film director, screenwriter, and philanthropist. He received the Young Australian of the Year Award in 2005. The Do family left Vietnam in 1980 as Vietnamese refugees, fleeing Saigon by boat.

Khoa Do - Australian of the Year
Born in Saigon, Khoa Do left Vietnam as a two-year-old, arriving in Australia with his refugee parents. He grew up in Bankstown and won a scholarship to attend St. Aloysius College on Sydney’s north shore. While studying Arts-Law at the University of Sydney, Do developed a passion for the dramatic arts.

I studied arts at the University of Sydney where I developed a passion for storytelling after participating in theatresports and stand-up comedy at the Manning Bar. Since then I’ve worked in a variety of fields including film and television, keynote speaking, philanthropy, volunteering and the arts. I currently live in Adelaide with my family.

Over the years I’ve received numerous awards and accolades including: Recipient of the Young Vietnamese-Australian of the Year Award, Bankstown City Council’s Young Citizen of the Year Award, a Centenary Medal for services to the community and the arts and the 2005 Young Australian of the Year Award.
