At the GIK scientists from different fields of geodesy and geoinformatics teach and research. Our topics concern objects in industrial production as well as spatio-temporal geodata or the System Earth. The scales considered range from micrometers to light-years in space and from fractions of a second to centuries in time.

The Joint International Symposium on Deformation Monitoring (JISDM) continues the tradition of the FIG Symposium series on Deformation Measurements and the IAG Symposium series on Geodesy for Geotechnical and Structural Engineering.

Der Studiengang Geodäsie und Geoinformatik (GuG) richtet sich an BewerberInnen mit einem Grundverständnis in MINT-Fächern (z.B. Mathematik, Physik, Informatik, Technik) verknüpft mit geowissenschaftlichem Interesse. Definiert wird die Geodäsie als die Wissenschaft, die sich mit der Abbildung und Vermessung der Welt befasst.

Steffen Freitag is Professor for Structural Analysis at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) since 2021. His research work is mainly focused on Uncertainty Quantification and Artificial Intelligence in Structural Mechanics.
