2025年2月21日 · I noticed in the main window, there is in the preferences menu a manage footprint libraries option. But not in preference menu in the schematic windows for kicad 9. This has been the case as far back as I remember, at least for Kicad 6, 7, 8 and now 9. Preferences in the Project window gives access to Symbol and Footprint Libraries.

2024年12月18日 · Hi everyone, I’m a beginner in both KiCad and PCB design, and I’m looking for some guidance on adding stitching and fencing vias. I found that the spacing between them should be 6mm based on the highest frequency of the module I’m working with. Is there a direct tool in KiCad for this, or are there other methods to include via stitching? Any help would be greatly appreciated

KiCAD is supplied with extensive Symbol and Footprint (and 3D, not addressed here) libraries. These are fine for simple, initial use, but inflexible due to their being “read-only”. 2024年3月3日 · Apologies if it’s been asked before, but I’ve spent quite some time trying to figure this out. I’m making a footprint for the MAX77857 IC, which has non rectangular pads. See attached. I can’t seem to make the pads for those polygons. Any help would be appreciated.

2025年2月23日 · In the context of upgrading from v8 to v9, I understood the documentation’s clear statement about “upgrade” to be relevant. Further, I understood that “a legacy KiCad footprint format” could refer to KiCad v8, while “the current version of KiCad” referred to KiCad v9.
