Dec 21, 2024 · Pace Prints is pleased to announce Keith Haring: Black, White, and Red All Over, an exhibition of prints and editions by the Pop Art icon, on view from November 22–December 21, 2024 at 536 West 22nd Street. An opening reception will be held at the gallery on Thursday, November 21 from 6-8pm.

By juxtaposing complementary colours like red and green or blue and orange, he achieved a dynamic visual balance. In "Pop Shop IV," contrasting colours are used to create a striking sense of movement and vitality. Black and White. Although Haring was known for his vivid colour palettes, he also utilised black and white to make powerful statements.

With its energetic line work and intense black, white, and red color scheme, this painting evades fast identification. Perhaps the colors - a classic Haring trio - are at first reminiscent of Stephen King’s "The Shining" (REDRUM, anyone?).

Fluorescent colors and thick, black lines shaped into silhouettes dominate these works. Haring surrounds the contours of his figures with thick markings and lightning bolts that emphasize the movement of the dancers and their physical interactions, which always take place on a single plane in a completely bi-dimensional space.
