Did you know? that the earliest part of the castle was built around 1180? that the Swedish-Danish border was situated just 50 km south of Kalmar until 1658? that there’s been around 30 archeological excavations around the castle since the 1930’s?

During 2024, Kalmar Castle is open daily from 2 January – 3 November. During the low season, we are open every weekend. The entrance fee includes all exhibitions, children’s activities, and guided tours.

Winter 2024: Krakow szopka - Kalmar Slott
2024年12月12日 · This winter, the cribs from the Historical Museum in Krakow have moved into Kalmar Castle. A castle which once was the home of a Polish princess who became Queen of Sweden – Catherine Jagiellon. She came from Krakow.
