Der Puma ist ein Schützenpanzer, der von den deutschen Rüstungsunternehmen KNDS Deutschland (ehemals Krauss-Maffei Wegmann) und Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH (RLS) entwickelt und produziert wird. Der Puma soll für das deutsche Heer in einer Stückzahl von 350 Fahrzeugen beschafft werden und den Schützenpanzer Marder ersetzen.

The PUMA provides its crew with highly effective modular protection from mines, antitank weapon fire and improvised explosive devices of a level unsurpassed by any comparable vehicle – thus guaranteeing maximum mission survivability.

The Schützenpanzer Puma (SPz Puma), meaning “ Schützen - AFV Puma ”, is a German infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), per the Panzergrenadier -doctrine, designed to replace the aging Marder IFVs currently in service with the German Army. Production of the first batch of 350 vehicles began in 2010 and was completed in August 2021.

2023年5月15日 · Germany’s two top military vehicle makers, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, have been awarded an order to build a further fifty Puma infantry fighting vehicles. Including value added tax, the total value of the order comes to €1.087 billion.

2024年9月24日 · Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall handed over on December 6th in time the first two PUMA infantry fighting vehicles to the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) in Kassel for verification tests.

Jointly produced by Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, the top-performing Puma infantry fighting vehicle is the most advanced system of its kind anywhere.
