K1+ is bonded to six equivalent Cl1- atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing KCl6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 0°. All K–Cl bond lengths are 3.19 Å.

The structural, mechanical and optical properties of as-grown crystals were systematically studied by the experimental measurements.
