Joab was a loyal captain in charge for King David and he won lot of battles for his king. He had also risked his life in many occasions for the sake of Kingdom of Israel and David. (2 nd Samuel 2, 10-12) He did make some mistakes, however: He killed Abner who came to reconcile with David. Joab might have felt threatened by this reconciliation.

2018年3月27日 · Joab (David’s nephew) then killed his cousin Amasa after David replaced Joab with Amasa as commander of his armies. Joab supported Adonijah’s bid for David’s throne. Before David died, and after David had anointed his son Solomon as king, David got Solomon to promise he would have Joab killed.

Joab may even have been the cause of the rebellion on the part of Adonijah. One can easily imagine that Joab told Adonijah all of the details as a way of delegitimizing Solomon as the king of Israel because he was the son of David's ill fated union with Bathsheba.

Conclusion: David feared Joab because of Joab's tendency to use violence outside of the chain of David's command.

2021年11月18日 · Even though Joab executed the plan, it was David who orchestrated the scheme to cover up his affair with Bathsheba. Therefore, Joab was complicit in carrying out the order, but the primary guilt lies with David for devising the plan. Scripture says David displeased the Lord, not Joab. The final sentence of the chapter reads in 2 Samuel 11:27:

Joab Executed. 1 Kings 2:28-34 (NASB) 28 "Now the news came to Joab, for Joab had followed Adonijah, although he had not followed Absalom. And Joab fled to the tent of the Lord and took hold of the horns of the altar. 29 It was told King Solomon that Joab had fled to the tent of the Lord, and behold, he is beside the altar.

2020年7月26日 · He sent out the troops, a third under Joab, a third under Joab’s brother Abishai son of Zeruiah, and a third under Ittai the Gittite. The rest of David's Army, was placed under the command of Amasa (2 Sam 17:25) and Absalom, numbered in the hundreds of thousands (see 2 Sam 24). It sheer size made it unmanageable, unwieldy and unresponsive.
