2010年1月22日 · the hydration? sorry i meant 15 minutes before adding then boil for 10 minutes. i've read about doing this on the package, in Palmer's book, and on another forum. the hydration "activates" the clarification properties of the moss. the moss will still work if you just dump the it in at the 10 minute mark but it will work better if you hydrate it first.

2011年3月2日 · I've never noticed much difference with Irish moss, and the folks on basic brewing radio tend to agree. They compared beers brewed with irish moss, whirlfloc and no fining agent. All beers were identical otherwise. The consensus was that Irish moss had very little effect vs unfined. Whirlfloc did make a slightly noticeable difference.

2010年12月31日 · I use powered Irish Moss, and if I throw a teaspoon in the boil, it doesn't dissolve, but stays clumpy all the way to the carboy. I now 'rehydrate' the powered form with a whisk and a little water and throw the slurry in the boiling wort at T-10. Hope that helps.
