Ion wind - Wikipedia
Ion wind, ionic wind, corona wind or electric wind is the airflow of charged particles induced by electrostatic forces linked to corona discharge arising at the tips of some sharp conductors (such as points or blades) subjected to high voltage relative to ground.
MIT engineers fly first-ever plane with no moving parts
2018年11月21日 · A new MIT plane is propelled via ionic wind. Batteries in the fuselage (tan compartment in front of plane) supply voltage to electrodes (blue/white horizontal lines) strung along the length of the plane, generating a wind of ions that propels the plane forward.
The ionic wind is the creation of movement of air, or other fluids, by means of a corona discharge. It was studied scientifically as long ago as 1899 by Chattock (Ref. 1), although its existence was known even before that.

2018年11月21日 · Ionic wind is instead generated by a high-voltage electric field around a positively charged wire, called an emitter. The electricity, often supplied by batteries, makes electrons in the air...
MIT engineers fly first-ever plane with no moving parts
2018年11月21日 · Instead of propellers or turbines, the light aircraft is powered by an “ionic wind” — a silent but mighty flow of ions that is produced aboard the plane, and that generates enough thrust to propel the plane over a sustained, steady flight.
A mighty wind | MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of Technology
2013年4月3日 · If enough voltage is applied, the resulting wind can produce a thrust without the help of motors or fuel. This phenomenon, called electrohydrodynamic thrust — or, more colloquially, “ionic wind” — was first identified in the 1960s.
