IIMB has a strong brand identity with a logo that has great recall. The sun symbol has been designed by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and has been in use since 1994. The concept of the current logo is based on a line from the Sanskrit shloka which has become the motto of IIMB: Tejasvi navadhitamastu.

It was at this time that IIMB was undergoing an identity shift, so the creation of a newlogo to symbolize the motto was decided.
