IPL may be less dangerous than some lasers when fired some distance away, but up close it can be just as dangerous as a laser to the eyes. You need to wear eye protection at all times. There are special patient goggles made that allow safe treatment on the face.

I had 4 IPL sessions and had a great result for the areas of freckle-type sun damage. However I now have a large 2cm irregular distinct edged brown patch I never had before under my right eye and a smaller one on the left. Could IPL along with sun exposure make melasma pop up? Ive never been diagnosed with melasma before.

2015年7月10日 · IPL can cause slight swelling for some patient and usually resolves within 3-4 days. The under eye area may be more prone to swelling as the skin in this location is very thin. If the swelling does not resolve in a couple days, I would recommend to f/u with a dermatologist at the facility you visited.

2009年9月20日 · I use eye protection for everyone when I use a light source near the eyes whether that source is IPL, lasers, etc. One can never be too safe. The eye protection should be such that when applied you do not see any light showing through and if you do see changes in light just let the treating person know and they can adjust it.
