How are ICs named? - Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange
2016年3月30日 · A lot of IC names are rather arbitrary: typically a prefix indicating manufacturer or series, and a number. However, in the case of that particular chip (and discrete logic chips in general), the name tells you a lot. The "SN" is a prefix specific to TI. The "74" indicates a 7400 series logic devices. The "LVC" is a family. From Wikipedia:
74LS vs. 74HC series ICs for Ben Eater's 8-bit Computer
2018年2月27日 · For faster logic the 74AC series is good to 120 MHZ, the limit of the 5 volt 74ACxx, 74HCxx, 74HCTxx logic series. The 74HC/74HCT/74AC series is still in production by several manufactures, while the 74LS is going the way of the Edsel. You may find them on Ebay. There are 5 volt ECL/PECL logic IC's but that is not what this post is about. LINKS
Why exactly do chips start malfunctioning once they overheat?
2011年5月4日 · The main problem with IC operation at high temperatures is the greatly increased leakage current of individual transistors. The leakage current can increase to such an extent that the switching voltage levels of the devices is affected, so that signals can't propagate properly within the chip, and it stops functioning.
What are the tools to identify ICs by marking?
2020年9月9日 · Vendor names - 'PHI' on your second IC may indicate that this part was once a Philips Semiconductor part (which would be NXP / Nexperia) - it could also indicate where it was made (Phillipines). There are just too many degrees of freedom for a sure-fire way of identifying mystery parts. Persistence and experience are necessary.
What's up with the operating voltages 5 V, 3.3 V, 2.5 V, 1.8 V, etc.?
Whoever makes an IC decides on the voltages it needs. In the olden days someone started using 5V for digital logic and that stuck for a long time, mainly because it's much harder to sell a chip that needs 4V when everybody is designing with a lot of chips that run on 5V.
ICs ("chips") are typically packaged in what material?
2016年2月16日 · Just did a quick check through a couple of IC manufacturers familiar to me, and found these links: Texas Instruments - TI home > Support > Quality & reliability > Environmental information > Material content search. Maxim Integrated - Maxim > EMMI > Lookup Lead-Free/RoHS Products and Content Data
Which software is used to design (and simulate) IC?
2021年4月30日 · Digital design. Digital circuit design is usually done using a HDL language like Verilog or VHDL. This can be simulated on digital level with tools like Modelsim / Questa.

2013年6月25日 · Many IC packages are also sold as bare die, or wafer level chip scale (WLCSP) packages, for the circuit assembly process to directly connect to the PCB. The bare chip is then environmentally protected using epoxy potting or similar protection coatings, after soldering or bonding of the lead bumps to the circuit board.

2012年2月4日 · My one test so far was to desolder a random surface-mount IC package from a piece of electronic salvage I had lying around (kept for exactly this purpose). I tried to step up the temperature slowly, but I got all the way to 400 degrees Celsius before the chip seemed to suddenly be floating free. I never did see any visible change in the solder…
