Is the ICON that you are talking about a shortcut to your history folder? if it is try this to place the history folder as a shortcut on your desktop. Right click on your desktop. Click on New. click on shortcut. a box will open. using the browser button follow this path

The History icon is a Clock which you can find in Customize and drag it to a toolbar, but really what's the point. Ctrl+Shift+H is simple and does not clutter up the toolbars. ["Alt" (if no menu bar)] > View > Toolbars > Customize

If you'd like to see a log of sites you've visited, tap on the search bar to bring up the home screen, then click on the icon.

Turn off Always Use Private Browsing Mode Turn on Remember My Browsing And Download History At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.
