Edit: If you use a vpn, most times they can tell it is a vpn because of many factors. The ip is registered to a known vpn company.

Whoever told you told you this doesn't understand VPNs. Your ISP can see nothing but the fact you're using a VPN (and if they cared, which VPN you were using). The actual content and web pages you're seeing are fully encrypted between your VPN's servers and your computer - including the ISP.
