Herstal (French pronunciation: ⓘ; Walloon: Hesta), formerly known as Heristal, or Héristal (pronounced), is a municipality and city [2] of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. It lies along the Meuse river. Herstal is included in the "Greater Liège" agglomeration, which counts about 600,000 inhabitants.
