Heinz Wilhelm Guderian (German: [haɪnts ˈvɪlhɛlm ɡuˈdeːʁi.an]; 17 June 1888 – 14 May 1954) was a German general during World War II who, after the war, became a successful memoirist. An early pioneer and advocate of the "blitzkrieg" approach, he played a central role in the development of the panzer division concept.

2020年9月16日 · Guderian led the 2nd Panzer until February 1938, when Adolf Hitler purged the army of many of its anti-Nazi leaders. Among those to go was General Lutz, who learned over the public radio that he had been involuntarily retired. Guderian was offered Lutz’s job: chief of the Panzer Troops Command, along with a promotion to lieutenant general.

A veteran of World War I, he elected to remain in the service during the interwar years and published his ideas on mobile warfare as the book Achtung - Panzer!.

On 1 Mar 1943, he was appointed Inspector-General of the Armored Troops, then on 21 Jul 1944 the Chief of Staff of the Army. He was dismissed by Hitler on 28 Mar 1945 after an argument, ending his involvement in WW2. Guderian surrendered himself to the Americans on 10 May 1945.
