Also apparently now the silicone sheet is preferred over the grease. Be careful with the mounting screw pressure to ensure it sits flat and in full contact on the heatsink.

2010年5月27日 · It works, but if and only if the heatsink is firmly connected to circuit ground, and the connection between the heatsink and the TO-220 tab is well made with star washers. The possibility of a fault due to a poor connection is great enough that actually connecting pin 2 to a ground trace is worth the effort.

You still need to isolate the TO-220 from the heatsink, as well as insulating the screw from the heat-sink. There are also washers that have a similar electrical insulating effect, but are better heat conductors than a dry mylar washer (without heatsink grease).

Well, for an ambient of 25degC the thermal resistance of of the thermal paste and the heatsink together must be less than (75 - 25)/575 = 0.087degC/W. The thermal resistance of a good thermal paste, a few microns of Arctic Silver 5, is around 0.05degC/W so we are looking at a heatsink of around 0.037degC/W!

2019年7月17日 · I have some 0.1mm fine hard wire thats used to separate a digitizer from a LCD. I tried but couldnt get it to slide under the chip. If the wire was heated I think it would work. I might have to remove the heatsink like you say. I'm going to see if a soldering iron on the back side of the heatsink will heat enough to remove it.
