As an American, the book I own is called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

The first movie WAS SO GOOD according to everyone on the planet that the franchise was born. It was childlike wonder and magic that got this all going remember. Kids felt an attachment to the boy in the cupboard.

The books are certainly more detailed, but there is nothing in that detail that really adds anything, and the longer JK Rowling writes, the more clumsy, convoluted and filled with plot holes the story becomes.

At the end in the hospital, Dumbledore explains to Harry that his mother's love is in his skin and that's why his touch killed Prof Quirrel but, if the magic is in his whole skin, why was it not in his neck skin when the Prof is choking him on the steps, to get the sorcerer's stone?
