Hammerschlagen (also called Stump or Nagelbalken [German lit. 'nail beam']), is a game in which participants compete against each other to drive nails into a wooden beam. Competitive nailing can be a solo game. [1][2] However, the most common form is as a competition between several individuals, the winner of which gets a prize. [3]

Each player purchases a nail to start the game; Men use one hand only, ladies have the option of using two hands; Grip the hammer behind the red safety line; Must use wedge end of the hammer to strike the nail; Wedge end of the hammer must be on the wood and touching the nail to start

Gather around the stump, and each player taps their nail into the wood just enough for it to stand on its own. A circle of nails represents the circle of contenders—each ready to claim victory. Rules

Before the game starts each player hammers a nail into the stump, about half way until it’s standing up well on it’s own. The stump or log should be about waist high, give-or-take. The game is typically played with a Cross-peen hammer or blacksmith's hammer and a large cross-section of a soft hardwood.

Armed with a wood piece, a nail, and a hammer, you're tasked with leading your team to victory by successfully nailing the nails into the wood before your opponents do. It's a race against time and skill, and your ability to strike with precision and speed will determine your team's success.
