Here we see a nice little HP Palmtop 300LX. Released in 1997, it’s specs were modest – non-backlit greyscale LCD, 2MB storage, and 44MHz CPU running Windows CE 1.0. This was the first handheld in the HP product line to feature Windows CE. Expansion was available through the PCMCIA slot, and communication options included both serial and infrared.

HP will name their new Windows CE computers "palmtop PCs," rather than "handheld PCs." This is to maintain consistency with the established LX line, say HP officials. Users will be able to choose between the 300LX model with standard features, and the 320LX model with more memory and extras, including a docking cradle.
