The River class was a ship class of British-designed frigates built and operated during World War II. One hundred and fifty-one frigates were built, and these were operated by seven different nations during the war. Scrapped, 7 July 1961. Transferred to India as HMIS Tir. Scrapped, August 1957. Sold for scrap, November 1956; scrapped, 1957.

HMS Wessex was the Southampton base of the Royal Naval Reserve, established after the Second World War and closed in 1994.
