Structure and genome of HIV - Wikipedia
HIV is different in structure from other retroviruses. The HIV virion is ~100 nm in diameter. Its innermost region consists of a cone-shaped core that includes two copies of the (positive sense) ssRNA genome, the enzymes reverse transcriptase, integrase and protease, some minor proteins, and the major core protein. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) - PMC
On the basis of genetic characteristics and differences in the viral antigens, HIV is classified into the types 1 and 2 (HIV-1, HIV-2). The immunodeficiency viruses of non-human primates (simian immunodeficiency virus, SIV) are also grouped to the genus Lentivirus.
HIV-1 and human genetic variation - Nature Reviews Genetics
2021年6月24日 · HIV host genomic research, which aims to understand how human genetic variation affects our response to HIV infection, has progressed from early candidate gene studies to recent multi-omic...
HIV genome: genetic structure and function of HIV explained
The “vif” gene codes for “virion infectivity factor”, a protein that increases the infectivity of the HIV particle. The protein is found inside HIV-infected cells, and it works by interfering with one of the immune system’s defences – a cellular protein called APOBEC3G.
Host genes associated with HIV/AIDS: advances in gene discovery
In an effort to discover host factors required for HIV replication, identify critical pathogenic pathways, and reveal the full armament of host defenses, there has been a shift from candidate gene studies to unbiased genome wide genetic and functional studies.

2025年3月26日 · The HIV-1 polymerase (pol) gene sequences obtained from the collected samples will be used to perform phylogenetic analysis and characterize the genetic subtypes’ molecular transmission networks.
Structure, genome and proteins of HIV - Online Biology Notes
2017年12月1日 · Genome of HIV consists of 9 gene, 3 structural gene and 6 non-structural gene (regulatory gene). Structural gene (env, gag and pol), regulatory gene (tat, rev, nef, vif, vpr and vpu in HIV-I and vpx in HIV-2)
The translational landscape of HIV-1 infected cells reveals key gene ...
Human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) uses a number of strategies to modulate viral and host gene expression during its life cycle. To characterize the transcriptional and translational landscape of HIV-1 infected cells, we used a combination of ribosome profiling, disome sequencing and RNA sequenc …
The Complex Interactions Between HIV-1 and Human Host Cell
2025年3月29日 · In contrast to human endogenous retroviruses, HIV-1 proviral integration or components of HIV-1, such as regulatory or accessory proteins, can interact with the human genome, leading to DNA damage or gene dysregulation.
