Lieutenant-General Guy Granville Simonds, CC, CB, CBE, DSO, CD (April 23, 1903 – May 15, 1974) was a senior Canadian Army officer who served with distinction during World War II.

Guy Simonds was outstanding among Canadian officers who took part in WWII. Montgomery regarded him as being, among Canadians, the “only general fit to hold high command in war”. US General Omar Bradley called him “the best of the Canadian generals” and British General Sir Miles Dempsey “the best of my Corps Commanders”.

Lieutenant General Guy Granville Simonds (April 23, 1903 Bury St Edmunds, England - May 15, 1974) was a Canadian Army officer who commanded the 2nd Army Corps (Canada) during World War II. He was also temporary commander of the Canadian First Army, due to the illness of Lieutenant General Harry Crerar, during the Battle of the Scheldt in 1944.

Born in England in 1903, Guy Simonds immigrated with his family to Victoria, BC, in 1912. He attended Ashbury College in Ottawa before entering RMC in 1921 when his driving characteristic as a highly principled person was already evident.
