Early screening and nutritional intervention have shown to reduce complications such as infection and wound breakdown by 70% and mortality by 40%4. The WAASP Nutrition Risk Screening Tool (NRST) has been implemented in all hospitals throughout Wales to help staff recognise those patients at risk of malnutrition.
