GRÓ Fisheries Training Programme (GRÓ FTP) received praise from GOPA in the latest external evaluation of the GRÓ Centre and four GRÓ programmes. Exploring future trends for fisheries, the FTP fellows asked questions like “what is likely to change and what will probably continue”, during the fourth week of the Six month training programme.

The FTP offers financial and technical support to develop and deliver short courses in developing countries. Through the process of short course development, the FTP aims to enhance the capacity of our partner countries to deliver fisheries education at a local level.

The core activity of the Fisheries Training Programme is an annual six-month training programme in Iceland which aims to strengthen the professional capacity of GRÓ-FTP Fellows to actively contribute to work done in their organisations and to recognise development potential in their home countries.

This intensive, six month post-graduate training programme targets experienced fisheries professionals from developing countries.

2023年1月16日 · The school now has the name of GRÓ Fisheries Training Programme (GRÓ FTP) after being merged with GRÓ Centre for Capacity, Sustainability and Developmental Change which works under the auspices of UNESCO – the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

The FTP offers training in four areas of specialisation: Fisheries Policy and Management (University of Akureyri in the north of Iceland) Aquatic Resource Assessment and Monitoring (Marine and Freshwater Research Institute in Hafnarfjörður, near Reykjavík)
