The Wound Badge in Gold was a gilded version of the Wound Badge in Silver. In 1957, a revised version of the Wound Badge was authorised for wear; however, the previous type could still be worn if the swastika were removed (for example by grinding).

This Gold Wound Badge has a very nice finish on the front… at least until you see the awful black blotch at the very bottom. This may be able to be cleaned off, I don't know. It is a hollow backed example, and feels rather flimsy to me.

This is a gold grade WW2 German wound badge. The badge is gold gilded zinc (completely non-magnetic) with a laurel leaf wreath bordering two crossed swords under a central Stahlhelm with mobile swastika on top.

This Gold Wound Badge is maker marked with a “100” just above the catch for the maker of Rudolph Wachtler & Lange. Approximately 90% of the original finish remains to the obverse of the badge while there reverse has more areas of finish evaporation from the finishes reaction to the zinc base metal over the decades.
