Goku, Gokuu, Gokuh, Gokou, Gokū, and Gokû are all "valid" under different systems when adapting 悟空 into our alphabet. None is any more or less "accurate" than the other. Very early on Toriyama went with a relatively-consistent "Gokuh" while Bandai (whose consistency is all over the map) has effectively always gone with "Gokou" on merchandise.

Sean Schemmel, Gokuh's current FUNi voice actor, wanted to have Gokuh say his iconic Super Saiyan line in FULL, and since the games were already ACTUAL translations from Japanese (unlike the reversioned TV series), this was his chance to do that.

Remember that Dragon Ball began as a loose parody of Journey to the West, and also remember that in many eastern Asian countries, the family name comes before the personal name 孫悟空 in Chinese = Sun Wukong 孫悟空 in Japanese = Son Goku (sometimes also transliterated as Gokuu, Gokuh, Gokou)

I've also seen it written as Gokuh in some places. Of course, "Goku" is so ingrained into culture that I don't see Gokuu/Gokuh/Gokou replacing it any time soon Reply reply KappHallen •

Actually how did Goku used Hakai in manga? I once heard that he used it cause he saw how Beerus uses it but while Beerus used it on Zamasu in main timeline Goku wasn't there are least in manga,in manga only Beerus and Whis was there to erease Zamasu

Apr 21, 2023 · Goku's name has a similar held character in it (Son Gokū), and it's legitimate to either use the common spelling (Goku) or several alternate spellings that sound out the character more carefully (Gokuh, Gokuu, Gokou, Gokoh).
