2008年2月26日 · When you open a product page for, for example, an R8, just below "1958 Les Paul Standard" it says "Vintage Original Spec", with the latter linking to a page that describes the VOS line as having a "gently aged patina." So if I understand it correctly, an R8 can be a VOS, or not, but either one is a historic reissue. I think.

2002年3月27日 · R9's consistently have better flametops but I've seen pre-'03 R8's with stunning tops but many of those are BBQ, pinstripe tops which are generally less desirable. I've owned an '05 R8 and an '02 R8, both sounded and felt great but the three R9's I've owned and still own feel a lot better in my hands and are also lighter which I personally prefer.

2003年11月13日 · In terms of R8's, I don't think there is any difference between the '01 and the '02 R8's looks or pricewise. Only difference is that around May of 02 the R8's made the switch to Burstbuckers 2 and 3). Both are great years and values especially if you are jonesin for a nice top.

It's not an overtly large neck, if you're familiar w/the R7's, those necks are really large. If you're familiar w/the necks on standards then you'll understand the neck on the R8, unless the neck on mine is not the "norm" for R8's...

2016年7月13日 · 3. My stock R8 with fairly low action and 10s sounds very HARD, unplugged. It’s resonant, loud and cutting, but a little stiff. My PRS Custom 24, Fender 1959 Strat reissue, and even 2009 Gibson SG classic have a more pleasant unplugged sound although not quite as resonant. Are original 58-60 Les Paul’s occasionally this hard sounding?

2012年7月11日 · Unless you have a very rare R8 it should not matter. Just keep the original pickups and put them back in if you are going to sell it. In most cases, a pickup swap in an R8 should not hurt the value except those that want to see untouched solder joints. If it is a rare and collectable R8 and you plan to sell it, then don't touch it.

2011年6月16日 · the R7 is slightly bigger than the R8 which is bigger than the R9, but all 3 can be ordered with different neck sizes by the dealer. Also there is the color. "Normally" and R7 is a goldtop with a natural or dark back where the R8 & R9 are bursts. The R8 has a plain or mild flame top where the R9 has a more pronounced flame.
