2025年1月2日 · The B30-7 was one of two high-horsepower, four-axle models General Electric offered in its "Dash 7" line and a direct successor to GE's earlier U30B. The B30-7 was intended for high-speed freight service but didn't enjoy sales as strong as the earlier B23-7.

The B30-7 was of similar length to the B23-7, but was equipped with a more powerful 16-cylinder 7FDL16 engine. It replaced the U30B model. Between December 1977 and May 1982, a total of 279 units of the B30-7 model were produced. These production numbers include the three different B30-7A variants described below.

2025年2月1日 · The B30-7's and LN B23-7's had GE FB-2 trucks while SCL B23-7's (including the BQ23-7) were built with trade-in EMD Blomberg trucks. Common spotting features included flat pilot end plates, a Leslie S5T-R horn, and a nose-mounted headlight.

2024年4月15日 · In the late 1970s, General Electric introduced the B30-7, a 16-cylinder, 3,000-hp, four-axle locomotive designed for road service. Virtually identical externally to the B23-7 model offered at the same time, the B30-7 ended up with less orders, though it did sell more variations than its 12-cylinder, 2,250-hp cousin.

The B30-7 was a BoBo Diesel Electric locomotive built between 1977~983 by General Electric, the 2nd model in the Dash7 series. Production totals were 199 standard B30-7s, 58 B30-7As, 22 B30-7A1s, & 120 cabless B30-7A(B)s.

The B23-7 was a direct replacement for the 2,250HP U23B model, while the B30-7 replaced the 3,000HP U30B. The first B23-7s were produced for Conrail in September, 1977, and the first B30-7s were produced for Frisco three months later.
